The Vineyards Value lies in the roots

We have always
taken loving care
of the same vineyards.

They are the original Cabrei vineyards from the 1600s. Only the way we work in the vineyard has changed. Our methods and processes are the result of knowledge that is strictly in step with the times.

Badia a Corte

One of our vineyards at Badia a Corte covers about 3.5 hectares, at an average altitude of 350 metres. The subsoil is a sandy clay loam texture, a mixture of sand, silt and clay with abundant gravel. Sangiovese is grown here, and the average age of the vines is about 20/25 years.

Casamaggio

Opposite Badia a Corte, the 5,000 square metres of the Casamaggio vineyard extend at an average altitude of 330 metres above sea level. Here too the soil presents a good sandy clay loam texture and plenty of gravel. Colorino is grown here, and the average age of the vines is about 20/25 years.

Badiuzza

The 4.5 hectares of Badiuzza, an extension of Badia a Corte, are entirely cultivated with Sangiovese. The composition of the soil is characterised by a lower presence of gravel compared to the more famous vineyard.

Chiusurli

The Chiusurli vineyard is planted on sandy clay loam soil with a generous presence of gravel, the perfect soil for the Merlot vine. It is located 320 metres above sea level and covers an area of 1.5 hectares.

Merlaia

The next vineyard we find is called Merlaia. 300 meters above sea level, it extends for about 1,3 hectares cultivated partly with Trebbiano Toscano and Malvasia Bianca. Mostly composed of clay, the soil has a high presence of stones.

Molino a vento

Close to what was once an old mill, later turned into a tower, are the highest Sangiovese vineyards on the estate: the one called Molino degli Innocenti and the Terre di Cino vineyard, and the Molino a Vento vineyard.

The Molino degli Innocenti plot
This plot is the highest on the entire estate, extending over 9,000 square metres at an average altitude of over 400 metres above sea level. It is characterised by a thin, highly draining, shale soil composed of galestro and sandstone. Only Sangiovese is grown here, and the average age of the vines is about 20/25 years.

The Terre di Cino plot.
Facing south, this plot has an average altitude of 380 metres and a surface area of 1.5 hectares. The soil has significant outcrops of galestro, a type of soil rich in shale, composed of layers of metamorphic rock of clay mixed with sand and limestone.

The Molino a Vento plot.
Facing south, this plot has an average altitude of 360 metres and a surface area of 1.8 hectares. The soil is a sandy clay loam texture with some outcrops of galestro.

Fonte Petrini

The vineyard called Fonte Petrini, the youngest on the estate, has an average altitude of 270 metres above sea level and features clay loam soil texture, cultivated with Sangiovese and Colorino.
